After requesting availability the client will receive an email confirming the availability with a link to pay.
That link should only be available for a defined period of time (24h, 48h depending on your needs).
Once that period ends, the slot is available for other client to book.
This could be done by passing the status to cancelled after that period of time.

This overlaps with an existing open request that captures the same underlying need — a configurable timeout for unpaid/pending bookings before they are auto-cancelled and the slot is released:
