WooCommerce Product Updates

Starting January 31, 2027, Google requires main product images to be at least 500 × 500 pixels. Google for WooCommerce 3.9.6 checks your synced products and shows a notice on Marketing > Overview if any of them fall short, so you can fix them before they stop appearing in ads and free listings.

The check runs in the background and covers every synced product, including variations. Once you replace an image and save the product, the notice clears within about an hour. Google for WooCommerce 3.9.3 changes what happens when the connection between your store and Google stops working. Instead of continuing to send requests that Google rejects, syncing pauses and you get a notice telling you to reconnect.

Before this release, a rejected authentication token was handled one product at a time. A sync run would work through your entire catalog, fail on every product for the same reason, and leave you with a pile of errors that didn't say what was actually wrong. Croatia joins the list of countries supported by Google Merchant Center, so stores based there — or selling there — can now list products and run campaigns. This release also adds marketing notifications, which surface recommendations and account alerts where you already manage your campaigns, rather than leaving you to check Google's interface separately.

Two changes in this release affect how you build campaigns from your WooCommerce dashboard.

Ad image previews now load in the campaign builder, even when you have an adblocker turned on. Before, an adblocker could stop the auto-generated preview images from loading, so you'd build a campaign without a visual check of how the ad would look.
