Klikage Age Verification for WooCommerce

Klikage Age Verification checks that your customers meet the legal age before they can buy age-restricted products. The facial age estimation runs entirely in the customer’s browser, so no photo, video, or biometric data ever leaves your store. Everything the extension needs is bundled in the plugin: there is no external service, no account to create, and no fee per check.

It is designed for stores that sell age-restricted products, such as vaping, alcohol, CBD, airsoft, or adult items, and that want a real check without handing customer data to a third party.

Accuracy and limitations

Klikage uses AI-based facial age estimation. It returns a probabilistic estimate, not a guaranteed result, and its accuracy can vary with lighting, camera quality, eyewear, and from one scan to the next. Facial age estimation may not satisfy formal, government-grade ID-verification requirements in every jurisdiction, so check the rules that apply to your products and country. For that reason, Klikage lets you add a safety margin above the legal age and always offers manual merchant approval as a fallback. You remain responsible for choosing the verification level that meets your legal obligations.

How it works

1. Customers already marked as adults on their account pass through instantly, on any device.
2. Otherwise, the customer turns on their camera. The extension takes seven measurements in the browser and compares the median to your threshold. No image is uploaded.
3. Customers without a webcam scan a QR code and finish the check on their phone. The image stays on the phone.
4. When the automatic check is inconclusive, the customer sees why in plain language, can try again, or can ask you for manual approval, optionally with an ID document.

Choose when to verify

• At account creation or login, and at checkout (recommended): customers browse freely, the check is tied to their account, and a server-side safeguard blocks payment of an age-restricted cart if the customer is not verified. The safeguard covers both the classic and the block-based checkout.
• Only at checkout.
• As soon as the visitor arrives, for stores that are entirely reserved for adults.

Scope the check to your catalog

Protect the whole store, or only selected product categories (subcategories included). The checkout is covered as soon as the cart contains a product from those categories, and the cart page itself is never blocked.

Looks like part of your store

Pick your accent color, corner radius, and font. The verification window uses your theme’s font and a single, consistent button style derived from your color, with the text color chosen automatically for readability. A live preview in the settings shows the result.

Manual approval built for real stores

• Approvals screen under the WooCommerce menu with search, status filters, sortable columns, bulk approve, refuse, or delete, and pagination.
• Optional phone number and ID document fields. Documents are stored outside the public web root and destroyed as soon as the request is processed.
• Three emails handled by the WooCommerce email system: new request (to you), age approved, and age not confirmed (to the customer). Enable, edit the subject and heading, or override the templates in your theme from WooCommerce > Settings > Emails.

Customers stay in control of their data

• Only an “adult: yes” flag, the method, and the date are stored on the customer account.
• An Age verification tab in My Account shows customers their status, explains what is stored, and lets them verify or delete their data.
• Works with the WordPress personal data export and erasure tools.
