Sales by State Report Pro for WooCommerce shows how much you sell in every state or province, in one report inside your dashboard. Use it to spot the states that bring in most of your revenue, hand your accountant the quarterly figures they need, and get a warning before a state’s sales tax threshold catches you by surprise.
It is a report that groups your WooCommerce orders by where they were shipped. Choose a country and each of its states or provinces becomes a row with its own totals for the dates you pick. You can sort it, search it and choose which columns to show, so the figure you are after is always a click away.
It looks and works like the reports already in WooCommerce Analytics, with the same date picker, filters and tables. If you switch Analytics off, the report moves under the WooCommerce menu and keeps working.
Many US states require you to start collecting sales tax once your sales there pass a set amount in a year, often $100,000, and some also count the number of orders, for example 200. You can watch any state against a sales amount or an order count you choose, over a calendar year, a quarter, a month or a US IRS period.
At 80% the state turns yellow in the report and you receive an email. At 100% it turns red and you receive a second one. You decide the amounts, so confirm each state’s rules with your accountant.
Switch the report to tax quarters, calendar months or US IRS estimated-tax periods, and every period appears as its own column with a total for each state. Gross sales, shipping, order tax and shipping tax each have their own column, so the figures that state returns ask for are already separated. Click Export to get a CSV, Excel or PDF file, or have it emailed to you once it is ready.
Sort by gross sales to see your strongest states, then compare periods to see which ones are growing. That tells you where to spend on ads, free shipping offers or local promotions next.
Sales by State is made by Rodolfo Melogli, who has spent years building WooCommerce stores and writing about them at Business Bloomer. Getting a clean sales by state answer out of WooCommerce was always harder than it should be, so he built a report that stays fast on large stores and agrees with the totals in WooCommerce Analytics.
