OKdo

OKdo is a global technology business focusing on single-board computing (SBC) and the Internet of Things (IoT).

The company works with some of the foremost tech companies on the planet – such as Arduino, BeagleBone, and Raspberry Pi – to bring the latest products, innovations, and services to its customers.

Visitors to OKdo.com have access to an impressive SBC and IoT product portfolio to help turn their ideas into reality.

OKdo is about more than just hardware; they also deliver a unique combination of software, development support, and manufacturing services. Their aim is to inspire and enable a wide range of customers – from hobbyists and entrepreneurs to industrial designers and resellers – wherever they are on their SBC and IoT journey.

Makers can also connect with and bounce ideas off each other through the Projects portal, while entrepreneurs and industrial designers can access industry-leading support when prototyping and manufacturing their products.

OKdo turned to enterprise software development company, Box UK, to create a fully-featured eCommerce platform as part of its multi-channel proposition. This platform needed to cater to a diverse international audience, running seven country-specific sites in six languages from a single installation.

[OKdo] needed to cater to a diverse international audience, running seven country-specific sites in six languages from a single installation.

“One of the challenges we had when building [the site] was how quickly could we get the websites live; how quickly could we get our proposition in front of customers,” says Richard Curtin, co-founder and SVP Technology at OKdo. “Box UK helped us do that, getting the business to market within eight months.”

The WooCommerce-powered platform sits at the center of a complex eCommerce ecosystem, using a robust API layer and custom integrations to enable communication between the various services. This provides OKdo with all the features and functionality they need to manage the end-to-end customer lifecycle – payment mechanisms, email service providers (ESPs), third-party logistics (3PL) services, and enterprise resource planning (ERP) solution, NetSuite.
