Hot on the slipstream of last weeks theme release, we’re also launching Merchant Commerce – a child theme which integrates the Merchant parent theme with WooCommerce.
Users of our other child themes will know what to expect here. All core WooCommerce elements have been styled to match Merchants aesthetic and we’ve added some extra functionality allowing you to display your latest products on the Merchant homepage too.

As well as todays awesome new child theme, we’ve been hard at work on WooCommerce core – 1.5.4 has been released today.
The new version contains many tweaks and improvements, several new features based on user-feedback, and a few minor bug fixes. It’s also been tested for WordPress 3.4 beta compatibility so when that drops WooCommerce will be ready!
One notible improvement is the variations interface. We’ve improved the layout of variation data to make it more extensible and more user friendly.
The variation bulk edit has also been simplified to make it less bulky:
Looking at the attributes panel you’ll also notice a subtle change; it’s been enhanced with the ability to add a new attribute right from the edit product page. Very handy!
On the frontend, we’ve added a new shortcode for displaying your product category thumbnails on any page. This is a useful addition we saw requested on many occasions.
Finally, we’ve improved a few core shipping methods based on user-feedback – a minimum fee option has been added to flat rates, and local delivery now lets you charge a fee per-item.

Merchant Commerce is lightning fast, I was expecting it next Thursday, but it is already here.
BUT isn’t there a mis-calculation for that “Bundle”?
Especially for the “2 Themes” part?
Yes, those extensions should be worth $245 when you select 1-by-1, but those 2-themes won’t cost $300:
Even if you buy 1 of the themes with the developer package it will cost ONLY $150 and also get the second one for 1 of the Bonus selections, and even left 2 Bonuses! As you can see, giving $300 for 2 themes isn’t a discount, it is $150 more, 2themes less than a developer package!
You can get both 2 themes even with another 3rd theme for $70 in Standard package.
That makes all those bundle + 1 MORE THEME cost $315, if bought seperately.
So $250 for $315(not $545) isn’t a profitable choice, and even with 1 less theme.
Of course the 100K-Bundle was far more effective but this isn’t close enough a Bundle!
Just re-calculate, you can see for yourself…

The themes are developer versions. So yes we were probably a bit off with our value calculation when you factor in the 4-for-1 offer. We’ve amended the value ribbon on the bundle page to make things crystal clear.
Still a great deal we think!
Just for making the clearence to be in “crystal perfection”:
if Woo’s Theme policy for Developer Packages is $150 for 1+3 bonus (as you mention as 4-for-1) then, HOW “only 2” themes worth also the same $150?
it is 2 themes less then a Developer package and worth the same?
and the user can select the Bonus themes as his own decisions, but in the bundle it is fixed that which themes are included…
if the quantity is the half, then the price should be at least half as: $75
that way the bundle cost a total of: 245+75= $320 .
Nevertheless; All bundles are good, but some are better 🙂

Woo, please change that on the bundle page. But now the bundle price doesn’t look so good anymore…
We’ve already adjusted the value of the bundle to $395. The two themes included are including PSD files.
Developer package is 1+3 themes, but regardless of how many bonus themes you receive, it is still a $150 value. We value 1 developer theme at $150, as you can’t purchase it for less than that. We’ve adjusted the value of the bundle to be only 1x$150.
Obviously there are restrictions to bundles, which is why you don’t get 4 themes for $150 and can’t choose the themes and extensions 🙂
ManusH pointed out, that for 395€ – when bought seperately, you get all what is in the bundle + 2 more dev themes + free theme choices for the 4 themes.
So apparently this bundle is NOT worth 395€ as stated on the bundle website. Not sure how to calculate this though.
If you buy all this separately, it will cost you $395, which is how we calculate the value of the bundle.
If you buy it separately, you get to choose which themes/extensions you want and you get 2 extra bonus themes.
If you buy the bundle you don’t get to 4 themes, only 2, and you can’t choose which themes/extensions you want, but you get it for $145 less that when buying separately.

Just nitpicking anyway – its friday :).
Fantastic work guys. But I would like to add something that possibly has been missed.
When there is a free shipping option included with another shipping option. When a cart reaches a certain price, and then allows free shipping, then it would be good to see that any other option for shipping be hidden so as not to confuse the shipping options.
I think that’s a good option we should consider, it essentially will force free shipping once it reaches the terms you’ve set.
I’ll see that our WooCommerce guys hear you out. 🙂
Thank you Ryan, much appreciated. Something else that was missed is the functions of “Product Addons”.. they do not update the price live on the product page. Once the product is added to the cart, it only then updates the price. Not Good.

It is beyond me why some of you guys even bother to continue to use WPEC, it seems always so full of bugs every time. I always ask for support there, and quite often never get replies. I have since moved to WooCommerce as support is steaming ahead on nearly every question. I simply purchased the plugin that Agus built to import all your products to WooCommerce from WPEC. I never looked back.
Besides, the variations and tax work flawlessly, and the printable invoices are exquisite to the point they don’t need to be hacked. Just thought I would add this comment as I was getting sick of always looking for fixes and workarounds for WPEC.
Every week there is something new in WooCommerce, it makes WPEC look quite useless. Then again these are just my thoughts. I get all excited when I talk about Woo, not too sure why, but it gives me the warm fuzzies 🙂
I am upgrading a client’s website to the new version and had to roll-back. The Free Shipping plugin stopped displaying and our UPS Module from WooThemes stopped functioning. I rolled back and everything is good.
I saw the message in the changelog about changes to the shipping modules — however, I am not sure as to how WooThemes expects developers and end users to respond to the changes.
