More extensions, more power

It seems every thursday WooCommerce just gets more and more powerful thanks to our community of WC developers and  the efforts of our in-house team. Today sees the release of 7 extensions AND WooCommerce 1.5.

WooCommerce 1.5

1.5 is another noteworthy release and what better way to highlight some of it’s new features than with some screenshots.

Configure the external product button text.
Define flat rate addons for users to select.
Manage downloadable product permissions within orders
Purchase notes - provide customers with additional information after purchase
New WooCommerce Right Now widget

There’s lots more to 1.5 that is viewable in the changelog, and no better time to try it if you haven’t yet. If you are an existing user you are free to upgrade immediately, of course as with any plugin upgrade we advise you backup your site for peace of mind.

    • With a feature so large, obviously it will take time to complete. It is being worked ok.

    • We have this discussion every week 🙂 Patrick is working on a subscriptions extension. Expect it when it arrives.

      • ahhhh yeeahhh – hope.
Wir are stuck right now in a heavy modificated CANVAS theme with recurring payments and listed payments per client.

We could not take Woo Commerce for now, because of this missing features. We plan to finish work the next week. Can you give us a signal, if we might hope to get it until then?
So we could wait with the workaround some days.
        Thanks a lot

        • The signal – I am going back and forth between creating the last few features for 1.0 and testing them. So it is close enough that I can test it and it works (mostly). However not stable enough (shipping & tax) to release to the wild.

          • its a biggy alright and super to hear its being worked on by your goodself 🙂 is it still just braintree and samurai in terms of merchant gatways for now? im still struggling to find a gateway in ireland uk who handle the credit cards in the way needed.

          • As of right now, yes. However… that is just because I’d rather concentrate on the subscriptions than try to fit a gateway in too. Once it is done I’ll see if we can’t get an irish gateway supported!

            Sorry for all the delays!

          • ha 🙂 delays – its amazingly fast so far to even think this is possible so soon. Fair play. I look forward to the update. I might send you an email on a related topic… thanks again,

      • Apologies, totally off topic but I have no idea how or where to get help with this. I am working on 3 Woocommerce sites currently. I tried to update the plugin and it broke. I’m about to purchase numerous extensions and will then be able to post your support forum (which btw is labeled as a public forum but you need to be a member to post to it- so its not quite public) My client wants to be adding products and is pissed. I posted the error at the bottom of the comments 2 days ago and don’t see any other way to contact Woo. Please help, thanks!

  3. Huge! Quickbooks alone is a huge differentiator. That’ll save thousands in manual labor to transfer.

These are big. Really big. Great job guys!

  4. Thanks a lot WooThemes! I set up a shop for a client using the external products feature. After each WooCommerce update, I was manually changing the text of the purchase button. I’m really happy to see this update in 1.5: “Configure the external product button text.”
Keep up the great work! It’s exciting!

    • Quickbooks! Woo Woo…

I have the same question as Maya. Does it work with the Quickbooks POS?

      Tim
      March 2, 2012
      • Hi Tim – It currently does not work for Quickbooks POS. We are beginning work on updating the extension so it does. It will likely be a couple of weeks before it’s complete.

Would this work in the UK?

          • Hi,
The extension should work for QuickBooks US/CA/UK versions 9.0 or newer. QuickBooks used to maintain separate interface languages for each one of those, but as of 9.0 they merged them all into one, so you should be good.

  9. Does the Freshbooks integration work for recurring invoices?

    Dustin Taylor
    March 1, 2012
    • It will only create invoices for orders in WooCommerce, I do see where that may be helpful but am hesitant to make it a direct feature with WooCommerce losing quite a bit of control there.

However once subscriptions is done, orders could be recurring right from WooCommerce and FreshBooks invoices would be created through that.

  11. Can someone tell me what the “Email Attachments” plugin is for? 🙂 I’ve been trying to figure it out, but can’t.

Great list guys, and great update to the core. You continue to push out a great product list week after week, just fantastic. I’ve never really been a fanboy before, but I keep looking for reasons to use this stuff. Luckily I’m opening my own online store in June!

    • You can add attachments to your customer emails which eg is useful if you’d like to attach legal texts, refund policies, free ebooks, documents, etc. to your woocommerce mails. This way you don’t need to code/write everything into the html mail itself.

We’ll add some feature soon (support for admin mails, bbc for admin) and if there’s enough request we’ll also add support for per product attachments (eg manuals, etc.).

      InoPlugs
      March 2, 2012
    • This is needed in some countries for legal reasons – so for example in Germany and other countries in the European Union. It’s required in Germany to have refund policies send in text form in order confirmation mails etc. So it’s essential for some shop owners and a very welcomed extension 🙂

  12. Fantastic line-up guys. Really good to see support for Freshbooks and Quickbooks. With the development of POS and Online for Quickbooks it will get close to being similar to the marriage of Vend and Shopify.

Really impressed. Every week I have my Google callendar set to remind me to log into the WooBlog and see what we have in our weekly Christmas stocking.

  13. I would like to +1 this … Any epos system integration would be amazing!

I’ve had to say no to a client because I couldn’t do this.

The only trouble is .. clients always have their own existing systems .. wouldn’t it be cool if we had a selection of different methods of integrating woocommerce with a variety of epos systems much in the same as with payment gateways.

    Thanks guys!

  18. With integrations for Freshbooks and QuickBooks released, could this mean that integrations with Xero and Vend may be in the pipeline?

    Tim
    March 5, 2012
    • Now you talking Tim….. 🙂
If we had the extension of Vend, this would be the ultimate for the bricks and mortar store that already runs Vend for their POS. I have a few clients that have Vend as their shop systems. Unfortunately they keep asking me about Shopify so they can setup an Online store to integrate. I just keep telling them to hold off until something like this becomes available for WooCom.

  19. Apologies, I posted this on the 1.4 release post, oops.

When updating, I get this error:

Plugin could not be activated because it triggered a fatal error
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING in …public_html/wp-admin/includes/upgrade.php on line 1727

Can this be fixed or should I remove the files and reinstall – what would that do to my database/site?

    Stephen Wayne
    March 6, 2012
    • I followed some advise I found elsewhere and deleted the “upgrade” directory from wp-content. However I still cannot activate the plugin…

      Stephen Wayne
      March 6, 2012
      • Did you have any woocom extensions live when you upgraded?

If you have local pick up delivery extension running at the time then it will break (or at least it did when I upgraded)

If thats the case then ftp your site and delete the folder. 🙂

        March 8, 2012
        • Yep, I had All-In-One SEO Pack For Woocommerce installed. Which should I delete from FTP? Woocommerce or the extention? I almost did that but thought replacing Woocommerce files might not work, not sure if files in the plugin have settings or if its all in the database

          Stephen Wayne
          March 8, 2012
          • Hey just so you know I’m a woocom noob too!

All I know is that if you had the woocommerce extension called “WooCommerce Local Pickup Shipping Method” active when you upgraded then it screws your site.

I went into the plugin folder using FTP and deleted the folder and my site was fine again.

I think that it was integrated into WC

  20. The AED’s do not require any payment to get them out of the vending machine. The vending machine is simply the location of the AED which is usually in the compartment which will be alarmed if opened.
