WooCommerce now offers official PayPal Enterprise Payments support

The Woo-owned integration for PayPal Enterprise Payments (formerly Braintree) brings native enterprise-grade checkout infrastructure natively to WooCommerce — with Fastlane accelerated checkout, expanded payment methods, and an active roadmap maintained by the Woo team.

WooCommerce merchants running serious payment volume now have an official path to one of the most powerful payment platforms available. The PayPal Enterprise Payments (formerly Braintree) extension — officially owned and maintained by Woo — has received a major update, and is now the most capable version of the integration to date.

Until now, the majority of Braintree volume on WooCommerce ran through third-party plugins with no official support and no guarantee of compatibility as WooCommerce evolves. This update changes that significantly.

What’s new in the extension

  • The updated extension introduces Fastlane by PayPal, an accelerated guest checkout experience that pre-fills payment and shipping details for shoppers with an existing Fastlane profile — turning a common friction point into a conversion advantage.
  • It also brings expanded payment method support into a single plugin: credit cards, PayPal, Venmo, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Buy Now Pay Later, ACH Direct Debit, SEPA, and local payment methods, including iDEAL, P24, BLIK, EPS, and more.
  • Built-in optimization tools — including network tokenization, smart routing, and real-time retries — work to improve authorization rates without additional configuration. The merchant-owned vault keeps payment data in the merchant’s hands, not locked to a processor.

Enterprise infrastructure, built into WooCommerce

PayPal Enterprise Payments powers commerce for some of the world’s largest brands, backed by 99.99%+ uptime, fraud intelligence identifying 70 million suspected fraud events annually (PayPal Q1 2026, based on PayPal internal data), and a global network spanning 200+ markets and 130+ sales currencies (PayPal Earnings-FY2025, based on PayPal internal data).

For WooCommerce merchants, that infrastructure is now accessible through an officially maintained extension — with a long-term roadmap that keeps pace with WooCommerce updates and improvements.
