GTIN

Google For WooCommerce now supports the built-in GTIN field in WooCommerce, which was launched in WooCommerce 9.2. Using WooCommerce’s built-in global unique ID field is the recommended path forward for using GTIN during your product syncing to Google Merchant Centre. Since, customers before version 2.9.0 have used various ways to add GTIN data to their product data, Google For WooCommerce now offers an option to migrate this data to the core fields.

Migration

The first time you install or update the extension version (2.9.0) or later, you will be prompted to migrate the GTIN field data to the core fields.

We recommend you continue with the migration when you are ready, and recommend doing this after a back-up. If you have accidentally closed the prompt for the migration, you can start a migration from the Google For WooCommerce admin options. Navigate to the /wp-admin/admin.php?page=connection-test-admin-page on your site to start the migration.

Migration Process

Once you are ready to start the migration, use the dashboard prompt to start the migration.

Once the migration starts, the time for completion depends on the number of products you have. The migration is scheduled in the background via an Action Scheduler task. You can monitor the task using the link in the migration popup or by searching the Action scheduler using the keyword migrate_gtin. Migration will process and complete in the background automatically.

Adding GTIN

If you are starting afresh, you can now add the GTIN data to your products in the inventory tab and this data will be automatically synced to your Google Merchant Centre.
