See the full stock history of every WooCommerce product. GP Product History and Inventory Logs records every stock change, order status update, and order note, with the old and new quantity, who made the change, and the order behind it. When your stock numbers don’t add up, you’ll know exactly why.

GP Product History and Inventory Logs is:

  • Automatic, with no setup
  • Built for variable products
  • Lightweight and HPOS compatible

A complete WooCommerce stock change log

WooCommerce shows you how many units you have today, but not how you got there. There’s no inventory history, no record of who edited stock, and no easy way to trace a missing unit back to an order. GP Product History and Inventory Logs fills that gap with a full audit trail for every product and variation.

  • Every stock change, logged once: Old quantity, new quantity, user, date, and related order.
  • Every source covered: Product edits, Quick Edit, bulk edit, new orders, cancelled orders, refunds, and order item changes.
  • Know who changed stock: See which staff member made each change, or whether it came from a customer checkout.
  • Inventory analytics built in: 30-day sales, revenue, best sellers, and low stock products.

Key features

  • Stock history for every product: Before and after quantities for every stock change, in one searchable table.
  • Variation-level inventory tracking: Stock is logged per variation, with attributes and SKU, and grouped under the parent product.
  • Order status history: See when each order containing a product moved from one status to another.
  • Order notes in context: Order notes appear alongside the product’s stock and status history.
  • Refund and restock logging: Restocked refund items are logged with the order number.
  • User tracking: Every entry shows the user who made the change, or System for automatic changes.
  • Search and filters: Filter by log type, search by order, user, or note, and show up to 100 rows per page.
  • Saved logs: Save important entries to a separate list while you investigate.
  • History on the product screen: Stock, status, and notes logs right inside the product editor.
  • Sales and stock analytics: 30-day sales trend, revenue, stock distribution, top sellers, and low stock.
  • Dashboard widgets: Optional sales, revenue, top seller, and low stock widgets on the WordPress Dashboard.
  • Stock change email alerts: Optional emails for stock changes, order status changes, and order notes.
  • Reporting shortcodes: Seven shortcodes for private reporting pages, visible only to admins and shop managers.
  • Product exclusions: Skip logging for products you don’t need to track.

Track inventory changes from every source

Stock moves for many reasons. Inventory Logs records all of them, so nothing changes without a trace.

When this happens Inventory Logs records
You edit stock on the product screen Old and new quantity, your user name, date, and time
You use Quick Edit or bulk edit Each product’s change, logged once
A customer places an order The stock reduction and the order number
An order is cancelled The restored stock and the order number
You refund and restock items The stock increase and the order number
You add, change, or remove items on an order The stock adjustment and the order number
An order status changes The old and new status for that order

Who is it for?

Store owners auditing inventory

  • Trace any stock discrepancy back to its exact cause.
  • Compare old and new quantities for every change.
  • Link each change to its order or user.

Stores with several staff members

  • See which team member edited stock and when.
  • Tell manual edits apart from automatic checkout changes.
  • Get an email whenever stock changes, if you want one.

Shops selling variable products

  • Follow stock for each size, color, or other variation.
  • See every variation’s history under one parent product.
  • Variations are named in full, with attributes and SKU.

Managers planning restocks

  • Spot low stock products before they sell out.
  • Track best sellers and sales over the last 30 days.
  • Build a private reporting page with shortcodes.

How it works

  1. Install and activate. Stock logging starts right away, with nothing to configure.
  2. Open the logs: Go to WooCommerce > GP Product Logs.
  3. Choose products: Search for one product, several, or select all.
  4. Review the history: Filter by stock, status, or notes, and search for an order or user.
  5. Stay informed: Turn on email alerts, dashboard widgets, or reporting shortcodes as needed.

Frequently asked questions

Does it work with variable products?

Yes. Stock is logged for each variation. If you select the parent product, you see the history of all its variations, each listed under its own name.

Are refunds logged?

Yes. When you refund items with “Restock refunded items” checked, the stock increase is logged with the order number.

Can I see who changed the stock?

Yes. Each entry records the user who made the change. Automatic changes, like a customer checkout, are recorded as System or WooCommerce.

Does the plugin send emails?

Only if you turn them on. There are three optional emails (stock change, order status and order notes) under WooCommerce > Settings > Emails. All are off by default.

Who can see the shortcode output?

Only logged-in users who can view WooCommerce reports. By default, that means administrators and shop managers.

Will it slow down my site?

No. Its styles and scripts only load on the plugin’s own admin screens, and on pages where an allowed user sees one of its shortcodes.
