Store Vacation Mode does the opposite: your pages stay online and fully indexable with normal HTTP 200 responses, but purchasing is switched off and a friendly notice tells customers exactly when you reopen. Close the store instantly with a single switch, or schedule it between two dates in your site timezone with no cron jobs at all. Products become non-purchasable, add-to-cart buttons disappear, and checkout is blocked, so even carts started before you closed cannot check out until you are back.

Key Benefits

  • SEO Safe by Design – No redirects, no maintenance page, no HTTP errors; every page keeps returning HTTP 200 and stays indexable
  • Close in One Click – Flip a single switch to pause purchasing immediately, or schedule it in advance
  • No Cron, No Surprises – The open/closed status is computed live from your site timezone on every page load
  • Keep Customers Informed – A customizable notice tells shoppers when the store reopens, using the {reopen_date} placeholder

Main Features

  • Manual Switch – Close the store immediately with a single toggle, regardless of any schedule
  • Date-Based Schedule – Close between a start and end date in the site timezone; empty start means “from now”, empty end means “until you reopen”
  • Disable Purchasing – Products become non-purchasable, add-to-cart buttons are removed, and checkout is blocked
  • Checkout Protection – The checkout page redirects to the cart and classic checkout submissions are rejected, so pre-existing carts cannot complete
  • Hide Prices – Optionally hide product prices while the store is closed
  • Customizable Notice – Notice text with a {reopen_date} placeholder, plus custom background and text colors
  • Flexible Placement – Show the notice as a site-wide top bar, before shop / cart / checkout content, or both
  • Live Status Card – See whether the store is open or closed right now, why, and when it next changes
  • Admin Bar Badge – A red “Vacation Mode ON” badge reminds shop managers while the store is closed
  • React Settings Page – Modern admin UI built with native WordPress components
  • REST API – Endpoints for settings and live store status
  • WooCommerce HPOS Compatible – Works with High-Performance Order Storage and Cart/Checkout Blocks

Stay Online, Keep Your SEO

Unlike maintenance-mode plugins that serve a splash page and an HTTP 503, Store Vacation Mode never takes your site offline. There are no redirects and no error codes: every storefront page keeps returning HTTP 200 and stays indexable. Search engines and returning visitors see your catalog exactly as before, only purchasing is paused.

Close Now or Schedule Ahead

Flip the manual switch to close instantly, or enable the schedule and set a start and end date. Everything runs in your site timezone and is evaluated live on each page load, so there are no WP-Cron jobs to configure and nothing to miss. Leave the start date empty to close from now, or the end date empty to stay closed until you reopen by hand.

Purchasing Off, Everything Else On

While closed, products are made non-purchasable, add-to-cart buttons are removed from shop loops, the checkout page redirects to the cart, and classic checkout submissions are rejected. Because purchasability drives it, the Store API add-to-cart is blocked too, so carts created before you closed cannot slip through. You can also hide prices if you prefer.

Tell Customers When You Reopen

Write your own notice and drop in the {reopen_date} placeholder, which is replaced with your scheduled end date (and cleanly removed when there is no end date). Choose the banner background and text colors, and show it as a site-wide top bar, before shop, cart, and checkout content, or both. A live status card and an admin bar badge keep your team in the loop.

How It Works

  1. Install & Activate – Upload the plugin and activate it in WordPress
  2. Open the Settings – Go to WooCommerce > Settings > Advanced > Vacation Mode and turn on the Enable Plugin master switch
  3. Choose How to Close – Flip the manual switch to close now, or enable the schedule and set your start and end dates
  4. Customize the Notice – Edit the message, pick colors, choose where it appears, and optionally hide prices
  5. Reopen – Turn the switch off or let the schedule end; the store returns to normal instantly

Frequently asked questions

Will this hurt my SEO?

No. Unlike maintenance-mode plugins, your pages stay online with normal HTTP 200 responses and remain indexable. There are no redirects and no maintenance page; only purchasing is disabled while the store is closed.

What happens to carts created before the store closed?

Existing carts are left untouched, but checkout is blocked while the store is closed: the checkout page redirects to the cart with the vacation notice, and checkout submissions are rejected. Customers can complete their purchase once the store reopens.

Do I need to set up cron jobs for the schedule?

No. The store status is computed live from the current time in your site timezone every time a page loads, so opening and closing happen exactly on schedule without any background tasks.

Can I close the store immediately without a schedule?

Yes. The manual "Vacation mode active" switch closes the store right away, independent of the schedule, and keeps it closed until you switch it off.

Is it compatible with HPOS and the block checkout?

Yes. The plugin declares full compatibility with WooCommerce High-Performance Order Storage and Cart/Checkout Blocks, and it is completely translation-ready
