showoff_theme_graphic

You have a website or are looking to set up a new one. You’re furiously writing content, working up a sweat and tirelessly creating amazing blog posts and pages to put all your content out there for the world to view and admire. You’re now ready to choose a design to best showcase this content. Your website is just that; yours. Be a Show Off and show off your content to the world.

Today’s release is a real looker. Everyone, say “howdy” to “Show Off”, our latest WordPress theme.

Introducing Show Off

Show Off has one main driver; showing your content to the world. It’s clean lines, bold typography and open-spaced design help to ensure your content is the main focus on each screen of your website.

A glimpse of Show Off, showing your content to the world.

Designed by Cobus Bester, Show Off can be shaped and crafted as desired with a few small tweaks in a child theme, or using the in-built theme styling options.

With the store functionality powered by WooCommerce, the entire WooCommerce extensions library is also at your disposal to take your online store to the next level.

Content Components

Included with Show Off are several components for displaying content. Display an introductory call-to-action or a featured product, text content, features, testimonials, recent blog posts or any widgetized content available.

Not just for blogging

While Show Off is primarily a blogging-focussed theme, the design can be used for anything from a standard blog-style layout to a website showcasing your company’s signature product. With styling support for our Features and Testimonials plugins, as well as a “Business” page template, your own design is just a few small tweaks away in the “Theme Options” section.

As long as you have content, Show Off can meet your needs.

Customise Show Off to meet your needs.
Customise Show Off to meet your needs.

To illustrate this, we’ve set up an alternate demo website to showcase Show Off and to share our love for burgers at the same time.

Create quick and simple styling adjustments

Customising your copy of “Show Off” to meet your desires is important to us. With this in mind, no expense has been spared to ensure ease of use and customisation of the theme with a few clicks and your custom eye-catching imagery.

Quickly provide a unique feel on your website, using our tailored selection of customisation options. A few simple clicks, your logo and your branding colours can transform Show Off into your very own, uniquely-branded, website.

    • Thank you very much, look forward to hearing about the extension soon then!

For the demo products, no plans to make those actual products currently. I’d love one of those ninja hoodies though! 😉

    • Hi there. 🙂

While the theme doesn’t include portfolio functionality by default (this kind of functionality should be in plugins, in any case), this is something we are working on.

Keep an eye on our blog for more information, as it develops. 🙂

  4. What’s the big difference from design On Topic …?

  5. Nice theme. Woo did not had that many themes with side-menu’s, this is nice extra one. But can you show how the main menu behaves with submenu’s. Would be nice to see that in the demo version.

Replying the critics on Facebook saing this theme is again pretty straight and ‘boring’, i can understand them a bit. It’s a nice theme, but i certainly did not had that ‘need to show off’-this theme feeling.
I know Woothemes can do better and be more innovative, not only on the plugin side as you heavely do but also on the theme-side.

  6. So, On Topic without the fixed menu and no footer area? Really? And you expect me to pay 99US for this? A very much look a like to On Topic besides the fixed menu being a normal sidebar now? Sadly that is not an option.

And do explain to me why a portfolio area of a personal blog should be worked out as a plugin? Isn´t it better to write it in the theme itself to leave one plugin to not need to be updated and worked trough for errors, bugs, hackers and what not?

Sure I understand that having it as a plugin would make it easier to keep your portfolio items between themes. But then the themes themselves need to support the plugin which well not all of em will.

Try to give us something nice next month. Something more original than just a rehash of your older themes.

    • I’m sorry you’re not a fan of this theme, Henrik. We understand that not all themes will be for everyone. We’ve got some awesome theme designs on the way that may be more up your alley. 🙂

Themes are not meant to bundle functionality such as portfolios. They should, however, add support for the plugin.

Keep an eye out on this blog for more info, as it develops. 🙂

      • I am a big fan of the On Topic theme. It inspired me to much of my current homepage design.

Now when you release a new theme I just expected something more than basically On Topic again but without a fixed header section.

I am keeping an eye out for new themes and designs as well as reading the blog for juicy info. I mean I´ve been a customer and user of woothemes for a couple years now. So I know that you guys have it in you, just that this was yeah to much like On Topic.

Here´s hoping for some new lovely designs coming our way next time. Or I might just as well try to send in some designs of my own 🙂

  7. I’ve been a happy customer for the past year and now I have to make a comment:

Quite frankly I’m disgusted with this organizations recent decision-making and directional attitude. This new theme is a perfect example of this companies motivation: Money$! Your really going to serve up a crappier version of another theme and raise the price for everything? You have forsaken your customers and doomed your business model. If this is the quality of product your going to push on your subscribers (because nobody is ever going to pay $99 for this crap) then I suggest you all look for new jobs. I’d rather use a crap product then support a company treats its customers like crap.

Keep an eye out for all your products in a torrent, lol. I’ve already seen it.

    • I’m sorry you’re not a fan of this theme. Design is subjective, so we understand this theme won’t be to everyone’s tastes.

Questioning the motivations and integrity of WooThemes doesn’t strengthen your argument, as your accusations are unfounded and, frankly, entirely inaccurate.

If you’re going to make false accusations of this nature, we’d appreciate it if you put your name on the comment (anonymity doesn’t help your point). 🙂

  9. Actually, it’s quite different from On Topic in design and functionality. I’m not sure why users are saying that other than the menu is on the left side.

Anyway, my two cents. Looking forward to this portfolio plugin.

  10. Thank you for finally doing a theme with an off-canvas menu!

Any chance you’ll integrate this into future themes with standard navigation for desktop and off canvas for tablet and mobile devices?

Also, are you considering creating off canvas navigation as a plugin or add-on for existing themes?

I’d also love to see a hierarchical off canvas menu implementation.

    Thanks 🙂

    Geeves
    August 23, 2013
    • Thanks for your kind words, Geeves. 🙂

Our newer themes include off-canvas navigation in mobile view (On Topic, Memorable, and others) as well as Canvas, which also includes this. 🙂

  11. I was waiting for new theme all month, even I insist on twitter…. but this is disaponting: same design of on topic, all new themes and desicions since one year ago are not good enough.

Please, make designs amazings like www. gizmodo.com, http://www.alt1040.com, all themes are almost identic, if I bought canvas, I do any theme of you.

I hope woo make things better, or I will unsuscribe club membership.

  12. The new theme is ok… not for me, but it’s a subjective thing and I won’t love everything. I would like to echo the comments of a few others both on this post and others over the past.

I’ve been a developer club member since 2009. I’ve watched the number of new themes decline, design innovation plateau, functionality increase in some areas and decline in others, Canvas theme become more robust, the development of Woo Commerce and a number of changes to pricing that make it harder to quote with confidence. Up until the last 8-10 months I’ve been pretty satisfied.

In my opinion, it feels like you’ve hit a plateau and may be sliding backward when compared with the competition. Based on my installed base of WooThemes I’m likely to be around for a little while longer. But as each month passes and the introductions of new themes are just ok vs. wow I have to admit, I’m starting to look at other sources.

Managing growth can be difficult and I don’t envy you that. I and others would encourage you to get back to what made you great in the first place and we’ll be here to support you!

Thanks for the past few years… a little nervous about the future.

  13. For me it seems since focusing on WooCommerce theme quality manifests more and more to mediocre. At least for users who don’t need the Commerce part of Woo your competitors offer more unique alternatives. If thats your aspiration – its okay, go on with this strategy. I don’t want to repeat other comments, but for me te reception of your latest development looks obvious.

And one question to your Show Off – Theme: If this is a dedictated Personal Blog – Theme, where are the Tumblog / Post Format and Portfolio features?!

    August 24, 2013
    • Hi Uwe,

      Thanks for your feedback. 🙂

To your first point, I’d like to point our Memorable, The One Pager, Superstore and Appply, to name but few… all of which are uniquely designed themes and all of which can be used for any purpose (blog, business website, brochure website, WooCommerce-powered store or any other use case you desire).

Please see my comments above regarding the portfolio plugin.

Post formats would be a natural compliment to this theme, I agree. We’ll look into implementing support for post formats in a future version and see what we can do there. 🙂

  16. Thanks for your reply, Matty!

Okay, last theme I really liked was The One Pager… it was marking a little milestone between two lean periods. 😉

But I really hope Woo gets the slight undertone in the latest comments and feedbacks. Don’t get me wrong: Your themes are well made – and if you need the WooCommerce options there are only a few alternatives. But as former top dog and old payer in the WordPress/Blogging-Themes game we maybe like to see some Real-Wow-Stuff from WooThemes, and no seemingly a bit slapdash or revamped themes. And especially since WooThemes introducing a new pricing and support – course.

BTW: Can you tell any numbers, how many customer still buying WooThemes for plain blogging and not for making an E-Commerce website?

And for the Show Off Theme: Put post formats and portfolio functionality into the theme (just as we would expect for a personal theme) – and I’m sold! (Just let me know.) 🙂

I think – that’s clearly potential you’ re giving careless away. (Why?)

Looking forward to the (hopefully) near future…

  17. Probably would have been better to follow that horrible near-Quickster episode you just had with a really awesome theme that would truly impress people. Like if hyundai suddenly said that their 100000 warranty was just stupid and unsustainable and people who already bought a car from them would now have to opt in to keep the warranty, their next move would probably be to put a really cool car on the market, you know what I mean?

  18. Hello! Your new theme looks great for me.
I do have some presales questions/comments:

Would it be possible to resize the thumbnails of the blog-page? For example, use square images there?

On the author, tag and category pages is a line break inside the headline (Chrome):

      • Hey Tobias,

Just shoot us an email (via our contact page) if you have any pressing pre-sales questions. The images can be resized and reshaped with CSS.

What do you mean about a line break?

  19. Despite some of the negative comments above, I am loving this theme. I purchased this on Tuesday and am nearly halfway done with my wife’s jewelry website. It’s uncanny how close this looked to my comp. Woocommerce and this theme are pulling together an awesome site.

When I saw this theme and considered how long it would take me to code my comp, I decided to buy my first wootheme. So far, I have not run into any issues. It would be nice if a slider shipped with the theme – especially a ‘featured product’ slider (not the $50 wooslider). Otherwise, so far so good.

I will post a link when I finish up the site and roll it live!

    Thanks again!

  22. Hi Woothemes,

I am using this theme for a site: http://fingerwaverecords.com/

No issues so far, although on mobile the product thumbs don’t go through to the product page when you click them. Can you please take a look and let me know how to fix this?

    Thanks,
