Custom Product Message

The Custom Product Message extension for WooCommerce allows you to display personalized messages (such as gift notes or custom text) for specific product categories. Store owners can customize the message label, limit the character length, and select which categories should have this feature enabled.

The simplest way to start using a product from WooCommerce.com is to use the “Add to store” functionality on the order confirmation page or the My subscriptions section in your account.

  1. Navigate to My subscriptions.
  2. Find the Add to store button next to the product you’re planning to install.
  3. Follow the instructions on the screen, and the product will be automatically added to your store.

Adding a WooCommerce.com subscription to your store

The plugin will add a new menu item under the WooCommerce menu called Product Message.


Accessing the Settings

  1. In your WordPress dashboard, navigate to:
    WooCommerce → Product Message (highlighted in the screenshot’s left menu).
  2. This will open the Custom Product Message Settings page.

Configuring the Plugin

On the Custom Product Message Settings page, you’ll find the following options:

Custom Label Text

  • Enter the label you want to display to customers (e.g., Custom Message, Gift Note, Personalized Text).

Character Limit

  • Set the maximum number of characters allowed for the custom message input field.
  • Default value is 255.

Enable for Categories

  • Select the product categories where this feature should be available.
  • For example:
    • ✅ Clothing
    • ✅ Decor
    • ❌ Accessories
  • Customers purchasing products from these categories will see the custom message field during purchase.

Saving Changes

Once you’ve configured the settings:

  1. Click the Save Changes button at the bottom.
  2. Your settings will be applied instantly.

  • A customer selects a product from an enabled category (e.g., Clothing).
  • On the product page or during checkout, they will see the Custom Message input field.
  • They can type a message (within the character limit you set), and it will be saved with their order.

If you wish to remove the plugin:

  1. Go to Plugins → Installed Plugins.
  2. Locate Custom Product Message and click Deactivate.
  3. After deactivating, click Delete to remove it completely.

  • Works with WooCommerce product categories.
  • Best used for gift notes, personalization requests, or customer instructions.
  • Make sure the character limit is practical for your use case (avoid very small limits like 10–20 unless necessary).
