Smart Coupons provide a powerful, “all-in-one” solution for gift cards, store credits, discount coupons and vouchers extending the core functionality of WooCommerce coupons.
With the Quick Create feature, you can create a gift card product in just a few clicks. You can choose from three gift card types:
- Any amount: Customers enter the gift card value during purchase.
- Fixed amount: A single predefined gift card value.
- Variable fixed amounts: Customers choose from multiple predefined values.
Creating an e-gift card
↑ Back to top- Go to WordPress Admin → Marketing → Coupons.
- Click Quick Start next to the Add New Coupon button.
- Select Sell Gift Card.
- Choose how you want to sell the gift card:
- Let customer enter any custom amount: Customers can enter any gift card value during purchase.
- A fixed amount gift card: Enter a single value in the Fixed amount field, for example, 50.
- Variable fixed amounts: Enter multiple values in the Variable fixed amounts field, separated by a pipe (|), for example, 20 | 50 | 100.
- Upload a product image using the Product featured image field.
- Click Proceed to set up.
- Review the product details.
- Click Preview product to review the gift card or Publish product to make it available for purchase.
That’s it. Your gift card product is ready in just a few seconds.
Why is a coupon generated when I create a Gift Card?
↑ Back to topSmart Coupons uses WooCommerce coupons as the foundation for gift cards. When you create a gift card product, the plugin also creates a corresponding coupon behind the scenes.
This coupon acts as a template that defines how the gift card will work, including its usage rules and other settings. When a customer purchases a gift card, Smart Coupons generates a unique gift card code based on this template and sends it to the recipient.
The template coupon is not intended to be shared or redeemed directly by customers. It simply provides the configuration required for generating and managing gift cards.
Note: Do not delete the template coupon associated with a gift card product. Deleting it may prevent the gift card product from functioning correctly.
