Reward high-spending customers with a personalized coupon

Use an AutomateWoo workflow to thank customers with a personalized coupon when their total spend reaches a threshold.

Create the workflow

  1. Go to AutomateWoo > Workflows and select Browse presets.
  2. Find Loyalty: Reward high-spending customers (with coupon) and select Create workflow. Keep the workflow Disabled while you configure it.
  3. Under Trigger, review Customer Total Spend Reaches and enter your threshold in Total spend. The preset uses 500 in your store currency. Do not enter a currency symbol.
  4. Review the one-hour delay and change it if needed.

AutomateWoo checks the customer’s total spend when an order is completed. The workflow runs once per customer when their total reaches or exceeds the threshold.

Customize the offer

In the Send Email action, replace the placeholder discount and customize the subject and message. Leave Is transactional? unchecked so AutomateWoo applies your marketing opt-in and unsubscribe settings.

Create a private template coupon under Marketing > Coupons with the discount and restrictions you want. In the workflow’s Variables panel, select customer.generate_coupon, choose the template, and set the expiry, prefix, and usage limit as needed. Select Copy to clipboard and replace the coupon placeholder in the email. The preset says the offer lasts two weeks but does not set an expiry; enter 14 days in the variable if that matches your offer. See Personalized coupons for setup details.

Generated coupons are unique but are not restricted to the recipient’s email address by default. Use a suitable usage limit and template restrictions for your offer.

Test and activate the workflow

  1. Select Preview on the email action and check the message with its sample data. With a valid template, the preview shows a sample coupon code without saving a coupon.
  2. Send a test email to an address you control and check the generated coupon’s discount, expiry, and usage limit.
  3. On a test store, activate the workflow and complete an order for a customer whose total spend reaches the threshold. Check AutomateWoo > Queue, then check AutomateWoo > Logs after the delay. Disable the test workflow afterward.
  4. When you are ready, set the workflow on your live store to Active and select Save.
