Legacy checkout experience guide

The legacy checkout experience is a rendering of the Stripe extension’s checkout form that was the default before version 8.1.0. As of that version, it has been replaced by the new checkout experience.

The limitations of using the legacy checkout experience are numerous. They include, but may not be limited to the following:

• You will only be able to accept cards. Additional payment methods will not work.
• Customers will be unable to choose their preferred card brand during checkout, which is a potential violation of EU Regulation 2015/751.
• Link by Stripe will show an autofill button that cannot be hidden or disabled.

• You will see a constant banner in the plugin settings asking you to upgrade.

Before enabling the legacy checkout, we highly suggest reading all of the information on this page so that you’re aware of the limitations that come along with using it.

If you’ve done that, you can enable to legacy checkout like so:

1. Go to WooCommerce > Settings > Payments > Stripe > Settings.
2. Scroll down to the Advanced Settings section.
3. Check the “Enable the legacy checkout experience” box.
4. Click Save Changes at the bottom.

The legacy checkout adds a setting allowing you to show the credit card entry form as a single line, provided you uncheck the Enable separate credit card form box.
