How to restrict affiliate commission for products on sale

Affiliate for WooCommerce helps add and manage affiliates and track performance from a single place – commissions, sales, payout, leaderboard, etc. Earn money without hard work. Increase your brand outreach, and get potential customers.

This document outlines two methods to prevent affiliates from earning commissions on sale items:

1. Restrict commission for on-sale products using commission plan rules and product categories.
2. Restrict commission for on-sale products by excluding them from the setting.

You can use either of the above. Find how out below.

This method is ideal for stores with a large number of on-sale products.

1. Go to WordPress Admin > Products > Categories.
2. Create a new category by following these steps for on-sale products, naming it something like “On Sale Products”.

1. Go to WordPress admin > Products > All Products.
2. For existing products, find the product you want to categorize and click Edit. For new products, click Add New.
3. On the product edit page, scroll to the Product Categories box on the right.
4. Check the box next to your newly created category (i.e., “On Sale Products”).
5. Click Update (for existing products) or Publish (for new products).

Note – You can use bulk editing to assign the product category to multiple products.

1. Create a commission plan, keeping a name something like: “No Commission for On Sale Products”.
2. Set the commission rate to 0 (zero).
3. Set up commission rules for the “On Sale Products” category by following these steps.

Sort this commission plan at the top by following this.

This method is best for stores with fewer on-sale products.

You can exclude the on-sale products in the Excluded products setting to prevent affiliates from earning commissions on those products.

You can test the commission calculation by placing referral orders for on-sale products.

For referral coupons, you can apply usage restrictions to exclude on-sale items by enabling the “Exclude sale items” option.
