Your WooPayments account balance may sometimes become negative for various reasons. When this happens, WooPayments may debit your connected bank account to recover from the negative balance.
This will only occur if all of the following apply:
- Your negative balance is greater than 10 currency units.
- For example, a negative balance of -$15 USD would be debited, but a negative balance of -$4 EUR would not be debited.
- You’ve added a bank account to receive deposits.
- Your FROD balance cannot cover incoming disputes or refunds.
- Your account is based in one of these countries:
- Australia
- Canada
- New Zealand
- United Kingdom
- United States
- Any SEPA country with a bank account denominated in EUR.
This transaction will be visible in your WordPress dashboard under Payments > Deposits as a withdrawal with a negative amount. It will be displayed on your bank statement as a debit from “WooPayments”.
Country-specific notes
↑ Back to topThe delay before these debits occur can vary depending on the country of your bank account. After your balance goes negative, the usual delays before debits are:
- Australia: Same business day.
- Canada, New Zealand, and the U.S.: Next business day.
If your bank account is in the U.S., you may need to authorize our payments partner to debit your bank account. To do this, you will need to contact your bank directly and provide them the following ACH IDs to allow:
1800948598
— Stripe Payments Company4270465600
— Stripe Payments Company
Finally, should you incur a negative account balance in Hungarian forint (HUF), the amount will be rounded down to the nearest whole number, and you will be debited that amount instead. The remainder will be removed from your account balance, bringing it to zero.
For example, if you issue refunds that bring your HUF balance to -432.10 Ft, you will be debited 432.00 Ft. The remaining -0.10 Ft will be forgiven, bringing your account balance to 0.00 Ft.
